We're looking at possibly adding one points race near the end of the season (August-October) during a bye week.
I know a lot of people don't have a large budget for racing and have planned their summer schedules already.
However, I know a lot of us are fans of racing and these 2 rainouts sucked as they turned our 15 race season to 13. I personally would love to add a points paying race near the end of the season to help cure my racing fix.
Please let us know what you think!

| As V.P. of this organization,I feel obligated to respond to the proposal of adding races at the end of the year. I think it is a great idea to add races for the racers who feel the need for more excitement. However I think we would be outside of our jurisdiction if we made them points races after the season started. People have put together their work schedules based on the posted season race schedule and it would be unfair to them if a points race was added and they couldn't attend due to the fact they may have switched a work day with another employee. This would also allow someone who didn't attend last nights rain out to benefit down the road. An added race during an unscheduled event week could be handled in another way other than having points involved. We could take a set sum of money(maybe $50 or $100) out of the sponsor fund and hold a lottery drawing for the attending drivers. It wouldn't matter where you finished and they would still have a chance to win a set amount of money added into their nightly payout. This should help with the car count as we could all use a little extra cash to make the trip worth while. This is my take on adding points races but I'm always open to listening to other ideas. |

I sure would like to see two races added to make up the two rained out. If the points are a big deal, the cars at Rockford are the only ones to get the points and the others run for the money.
I would like to see as many races as we can get scheduled.
Races should be added as soon as we can if that is what is going to happen. If we wait until the end of the season maybe some will have wrecked cars that were at Rockford or would of made the Dells. I am not opposed to late season races either.

Now hold your horses fellas. I love to race as anyone can tell by looking at my past. I certainly ain't in it for the wins, thats for sure.
I as many of you, have to balance racing with a little thing called employment not to mention family and sponsors. I have to keep all happy and healthy. I mentioned to Jeff last season how great it would be if we raced every other week so we can manage the above mentioned priorities. He thought it was worth consideration when he got around to making up this seasons schedule. I know it's tough for him when so many of the tracks dictate when they want us to race but I think he did a great job considering. Another thing thrown into the mix this season are more CSR sponsor appearances which makes it more difficult for everyone.
In regards to the rain dates, I would love to race more but I know there will undoubtedly be conflicts as many plans have already been set in stone for me not to mention fighting over who gets the weekends at work. I reluctantly have to say I don't think we should add any more race dates at this time.

After looking at the list of dates that are available and if people feel a need for additional races to this year we should look into a alternative sponsor to sponsor an non points race. Those who want to race hit up your sponsors.
As #33 has pointed out we have a schedule and the unused dates were probably taken up with other activity's over the summer, (work, a off weekend family vacation, a commitment to a sponsor to appear at an event or other reasons) We should not require a driver that has made himself available to alter plans in this point in the season.
For the 2009 season we should look into offering for example 2 washout rain dates if the tracks would be willing to work with us. But these dates need to be determined before the start of the season so drivers can plan their schedule accordingly.
For drivers that feel the need - We could also contact other outside clubs that I sure would welcome some flat lander drivers and we could go play in their litter box. Road trips are always fun and challenging. For the new drivers it would be a great experience to see how other clubs are run. It's always fun to go snag some other trophy. But once again I feel that should not be a requirement or a points race.

Race yes - required no
I do not feel you can add points races after the season has started.
Furthermore, I find it ironic that over 50 people have read this post and less than a half a dozen people have responded. Guys, the Board Members are going to make a decision for you if you do not speak up on this issue and any other issue you feel is important to this organization. All of us as drivers have a voice in what the organization does and I personally am excited with the fact I have been given the opportunity to constructively give my opinion. If you do not give your feedback to the Board Members they are going to vote on how each individual Board Member feels, if you agree with them or not. I believe the majority rules period. I may not be happy if I am in the minority but I can accept it.
Speak up or forever hold your peace. |

I agree with adding some races, but not for points. Like other members have stated, people have already made plans for the off weekends and it would not be fair to those who can not attend.

I agree with Holth22. We should let the the board members know what everyone thinks and then they can make a decision and all of us can live with it.
We can race.

It is good to see we getting some input from the series.
The board has been discussing this issue and have decided we will not be adding any point races for the season. We are discussing taking away one drop race because of the shortened season but this is not a definite yet. Our schedule compared to others just will not allow that adding of a race.
I encourage everyone to get together and look at the Summer Shoot out or GCK and get several drivers together to go play. Unfortunatly I can not call tracks and ask for non point races becuase if we were to show up with only a few cars it would make the series look bad. So if anyone is heading out to an extra race post it on the board or let me know and I will send out a group email to try to get some more cars out.
Thanks for everyones input.

Ken is correct. We will not be adding any races, nor taking any drop races away.
Time to go racing, rules are set and will be posted shortly. Media Guides will be sent to the ASA and Grundy Speedway on Wednesday. Hopefully most of you will get your CSR patches on your uniforms by this Sunday. If not, please, please have them done by 5/31 when we race at the Dells.
Thanks to all who added your input. We (the board) often have to make decisions based on what we think people want because only a few people give us their opinions. So please talk all season long, our ears are open about making changes for the future.

Thanks Erik..
My input would be any car starting with the #1 and ending with the #8 should start on the pole of every race as long as the car number is only 2 digits long.
This would be a good addition to the CSR rule book!
